Fried foods are not only bad for your waistline but also for your esophagus because like most foods that are bad for you it is full of unwanted fat. Alcohols such as beer and liquor have been known to contribute to acid reflux. Although it is usually not acidic the alcohol relaxes the valve at the bottom of the esophagus that leads into the stomach and ultimately ends with the intense heart burn. There are also some fruits to stay away from due to their acidity; fruits such as grapefruit, pineapple and oranges should be avoided if you are susceptible to heart burn.
Acid reflux can be caused by high fat cuts of meat such as beef, pork, or lamb. This food stays in your stomach longer and increases your chances of getting intense heart burn. More high fat foods to avoid are dairy products. Cheeses or butter that is high in fat can cause acid reflux so it is important to use smaller portions of the high fat products.
All of these foods that should be avoided have one thing in common- they are all high in fat. It is safe to say that foods and beverages this high in fat should be avoided if you are worried about acid reflux. Try to eat healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and remember that if you do ingest fatty things like chocolate and soda; to do so in moderation. It is okay to have a little b it of bad stuff just as long as you don’t go overboard and that you take the right precautions such as taking ant-acids or drinking a glass of milk.
